The Best Way to Learn RC: Simulator

Feb 06, 2008 in Helicopters Tutorials, Planes/Jets Tutorials

Heres another great video from Dave at (RCSuperPowers).

In this video he gives very important advice to all you out there that would like to get started in flying RC airplanes or RC Helicopter. Everything he says in this video is true and you should really take his advice. All it takes is that one mistake and you will smash up your plane or helicopter (trust me I have done it) With a RC simulator you can crash a million times and its OK, you can save tons of money and time.

If you dont know what to get here is a list of simulators that you can try:

Flight Model Simulator (FMS)
RealFlight G4
Reflex
Phoenix
Aerofly
Clearview
HeliSim
FS One

Here is what he had to say about this video:

Crossed Trims for R/C TX’s. What is that and how to?

Feb 04, 2008 in Helicopters Tutorials, Planes/Jets Tutorials

Kraft Signature series Radio

Another Great Tutorial and RC History Lesson from NightFlyyer

Heres what he had to say about the video:

Crossed Trims were “old school” but were very handy when trimming your RC planes or helicopters without fumbling around trying to “feel” where the trim switches were while flying.
It is especially helpful with the newer electronic trims or while flying with gloves and not looking at your transmitter.
It is a much safer way to trim your plane or helicopter without removing your fingers from the control sticks on the newer fancy cases while trying to find the trims.
You should never have to look at your transmitter, to keep your eyes on the plane at all times.
Maybe some Manufacturers do offer this now.
It is pretty easy to do yourself, if you have a radio that doesn’t offer this feature. So here is how I did it. (more…)

Make a 12 VDC power supply for RC LiPo Battery Chargers

Make a 12 VDC power supply for RC LiPo Battery Chargers

Here is a great tutorial on how to make a 12 VDC power supply for RC LiPo Battery Chargers. These suckers are rather expensive so the manufacturers don’t usually include them. But with this tutorial you can save yourself some money to pay for other RC expenses :)

Here is what the poster NightFlyyer had to say:

Model airplanes and Helicopters come with battery chargers that usually need to be charged off a 12 vdc power supply. They are rather expensive, so the manufacturers do not include them with your models. So if you want to charge your heli and plane batteries in the house instead of in your car, try making your own supply, as I demonstrate here. Thanks to one of my Subscribers, Bryan, (bjudoka1) for putting the idea in my head.
I was thinking that you could also run a wire right out of your home pc and use it at the same time. (more…)

Make Your Own blade cx cx2 Land Skid Protection kit - MOD !

blade cx cx2 Land Skid Protection kit

This Video will teach you make your own Landing Skid Protection Kit, for the E-Flite Blade CX or CX2. Great Tutorial.

Heres what the poster RCFEIND had to say:
This Video will teach you make your own Landing Skid Protection Kit, for the E-Flite Blade CX or CX2.

I Invented this kit to Overcome some Structural weakness I found in the CX & CX2 Design.

I was so tired of buying parts, landing Skids & Mainframe mostly from Learning to control Fast Flight with my CX & CX2.

I brainstormed & found this simple but extremely effective solution. It does work, See all my videos, I do not fly without it!!!!

You can make this kit for under $3 and increase the structural integrity of your helis airframe & Landing skids! This Idea can be used on other helis by modifying lengths of carbon fibre rods.

This Mod is especially necessary if you plan to get crazy, like I do! You will need strong airframe while practicing, this kit will do that & allow you to get farther in your RC Heli training, by spending more time in the air & less time spending money on parts!!!

Hope you CX & CX2 Pilots enjoy the Video & find it informational.

Note from RCFEIND:
Don’t let that last crash discourage you from flying again. It is a part of learning, also the repairing is a part of knowing your machine. Practicing & not getting discouraged is KEY here. Get Past that & It is all fun from there on… (more…)

Blade CX2 Installation of Aluminum Upgrade Parts

Jan 11, 2008 in Helicopters Tutorials

Blade CX2

I installed new rotor heads. The top head is connected to an inner shaft.
These upgrades will not increase performance, however by moving the push rods out one hole on the servo arm really made a more maneuverable machine.
These are genuine E-Flite upgrade parts and will probably never break in a crash.
Note: Make sure you have a package of extra blades, when learning, because the tips are brittle. (more…)

Self-Made LED Light Kit for the Blade CX2 - Lights for Night

Jan 11, 2008 in Helicopters Tutorials

Blade CX2

This Blade CX2 by E-Flite was lightened by drilling out the frame in certain areas.

Tail boom kit was added, aluminum swashplate, Lower aluminum rotor, upper aluminum bearing cup, & Aluminum Upper Head.

I moved the servo link holes out farther to get more movement out of the rotor blades, flies faster & much more responsive.

This L.E.D. kit I made is powered by a very tiny 90mah lipo cell. I mounted the cell on center, on the underside of the heli to maintain balance.

This thing really lights up beautifully at night, & most of all makes it very easy to see in the dark. (more…)

How to Balance E-Flite Blade CX / CX2 Blades

default How to Balance E-Flite Blade CX / CX2 Blades

This Video will teach you how to check & Fix any Balance Problems, for the E-Flite Blade CX or CX2.

Balanced Blades are key to a well balanced heli. Balancing your blades will reduce vibration, & make your heli easier to trim out & Fly, especially if you plan to get crazy, like I do! You will need a well trimmed Heli!

Today I am replacing Lower Blades on My CX2.

Hope you CX & CX2 Pilots enjoy the Video & find it informational. (more…)
