How to crash an RC helicopter

Heres an interesting video that is the complete opposite of the normal videos we watch that teach us how to NOT crash your helicopters =)

In this video flyfalcons tells us the three fatal steps that led to the crash of a perfectly good Sceadu 50.

Heres what Flyfalcons had to say about the video:

My first attempt at an inverted autorotation didn’t go very well!

Airbots - Flying robots that fight

Jan 11, 2008 in Other, RC Helicopters

Airbots

Currently still in the development stage, Airbots by Wiz Corporation are flying robots built for fighting. Airbots designer Kensaku Kusunoki talks about the development process: “There are many toys that you can play with on the ground, such as remote control cars, but there aren’t so many toys out there that you can play with in the air. So if you’re thinking about designing a remote controlled flying toy, you normally think of a helicopter shape, but in order to reduce the cost i decided to make it wired to the controller. The next thing I thought about was how to make it lightweight, so I came up with the idea of using styrofoam in the shape of a robot for the body. Lastly, I wanted to make it easy use to without a lot of complex controls, so i made it work simply with just a pull of a switch.” The design of the Airbot is yet to be finalized but distributor Happinet Corporation are planning for a November release in Japan.

Flying Robots!

Flying Robots

Flying ROBOTS? Airhogs/Spinmaster/Silverlit has done it again. Here, I test the new Robo Copter.
It tips over easily on take offs or landings, but once you figure out how to control that, it is a very smooth and a fun machine to fly. It is easier than the Havocs.
I understand these are also available from Donovan’s Hobby Center in Sioux Falls, SD with free shipping in the USA. (1-800-279-6945) (And no, I am not being compensated by them) They are just good guys.
I like mine, and glad I bought it. (Around $50)

ROBOCOPTER-EXTREME MAKEOVER!

Jan 11, 2008 in RC Helicopters

ROBOCOPTER

Robocopter Makeover. It keeps tipping over, so I decided to look inside and see what could be done. Here is a simple way to widen his feet to help, or the more radical way of changing the body out for a more conventional looking helicopter. These Electronics and Mechanics are far superior to the Havocs. Thanks for watching. (more…)

Flying 2 Christmas Lights & 2 Pool w RC Heli! CX2

Jan 11, 2008 in RC Helicopters

blade CX2

My Wife Hates when I do this, I fly arround her decorations when she is setting up for Christmas.

I am on the patio flying My Blade CX2 thru her criss-crossed christmas lights, I then fly out to a tree, & out a distance to our Condo’s Swimming pool & hover 1 to 2 feet above water. I then return through the criss-crossed maze of christmas light to land on our tiny patio.

My older Daughter L.B. is on the camera today Mon 11-12-07 .

This Blade CX2 by E-Flite was lightened by drilling out the frame in certain areas.

Tail boom kit was added, aluminum swashplat This Blade CX2 by E-Flite was lightened by drilling out the frame in certain areas.

Tail boom kit was added, aluminum swashplate, Lower aluminum rotor, upper aluminum bearing cup, & Aluminum Upper Head.

I moved the servo link holes out farther to get more movement out of the rotor blades, flies faster & much more responsive.

*I also added my own landing skid kit, which increases the airframe durability, I will cover this mod soon here on video, so stay tuned! more videos to come, & maybe some flight school videos also… ;) (more…)
